MDMA, also known as Ecstasy, has some medical value, of course there are some risks like any drug, but Education and harm reduction is a better strategy than many failed decades of prohibition. MDMA was widely used by therapists during the 1970s before it became known as a street drug today. There is an upcoming documentary called MDMA The Movie made by Viveka Films which is produced and directed by DanceSafe founder, Emanuel Sferios. MDMA The Movie looks at the medical and recreational use of Ecstasy and advocates harm reduction as an appropriate public health-based alternative to prohibition.
Quite a lot of illegal MDMA is mixed with other drugs, there is a lot of evidence that prohibition is causing more harm to society than the reasoning for prohibition. Unlike alcohol, MDMA loses it's effects if it's used too much, so people can't become addicted to MDMA using it every day like other hard drugs. Many of the risks with MDMA can be avoided with proper care and use, dancing in a hot environment is not healthy for anyone for long periods of time, but some people who were dancing for many hours over-heated while high on MDMA, some even died in some cases.
