For housing to be affordable it should not be over 30% of an income yet most apartments in Niagara Falls are well beyond the range considered affordable for people. Most New Apartments in Niagara Falls Unaffordable for Locals and the mainstream media are not doing their jobs to report news how the documentary Overpriced has solutions so lots of affordable housing could be made with hemp which is renewable, government is pretending to care about the environment but won't support solutions to open the free market to local jobs to make renewable building materials with Hemp which is superior for thermal efficiency.
I was born and raised in Niagara Falls and still live here, apartments have doubled in price in the past 15 years. An apartment on Drummond Road I rented with a friend for $750 a month is now renting for practically double what it cost 15 years ago. My landlord here on main street is trying to evict me claiming he wants to move in after I said no to an illegal rent increase. I have a nearing with the Landlord and Tenant Board next month.
