More to Gender in Nature

In nature there is more to gender than just male or female. Clownfish are one of many species of fish known to transition from male to female and there are many more examples in the animal kingdom of gender not expressing itself in the gender binary with just male, or just female.

Republicans have been spreading anti-trans misinformation claiming schools were grooming kids and corrupting them with gender ideology, but it was misinformation. Republicans need to look at the science, this shouldn't be an issue anyone is divided over. LGBT+ is barely even talked about for the most part in the United States, in some areas more than others. There was a school survey published by GLSEN, most LGBTQ+ students who attended school in person experienced harassment, and or assault during 2021-2022. In Canada I skipped high school due to bullying during 2001-2005, I had to go back for half a year for a couple credits because the school kicked me out for skipping school so much, I didn't have all the information then I had no idea what transgender was, I just wished I could wake up a girl from a young age and had no idea there was such a thing as hormone replacement therapy to help with gender dysphoria. I suffered and was afraid to tell anyone. Nobody should have to suffer like I did, what year is this? Exactly this isn't the dark ages. I had no help by society to help me figure out I had gender dysphoria when I was young like young people have now. Everyone I knew laughed at the idea of someone cross dressing except for lesbians so how could I tell people I wished I wasn't in the wrong body? My secret I kept for years.

I didn't know I could transition and do something about my severe depression. I am so much happier in my life now. I'm 36 years old and was 34 when I came out as trans to my family and a few friends, I was 35 when I started HRT after years of thinking about the decision. It's not like I'm young I'm the same person I was when I was 16, just free to express myself now knowing what was possible! I started to realize I was living in denial years ago and it took time, moving out into my own apartment gave me freedom to dress at home without anyone noticing, I even spent a whole year dressed after work to see if I wanted back in guy mode, I hated going back in guy mode, this isn't just a fad. A lifetime of suppressing my thoughts was difficult and stopping suppressing my own happiness was the best decision in my life, before puberty I did dress in female clothes a few times when nobody else was home which was super rare. RuneScape helped me a little express female when I had no idea changing genders in real life was possible, I've been playing for 20 years!

I have to wonder if Republicans actually believe they are trying to save kids from their perceived threat or just using the issue to divide an already divided world. Anti-trans misinformation is aligned with authoritarian dictatorships such as Russia, communist China, and Saudi Arabia who are very anti-LGBT+ and physically enforce the belief there is only male and female and punish, or kill people who express themselves differently. Where are Republicans condemning hate crimes against trans people? If Republicans are so concerned with some people who detransition, why are they preventing having more support for trans kids to have enough people to consult with the parents and professionals to determine if they really are trans, the process works when there are enough people to better identify people who may not actually be trans through therapy so if you see a sudden rise in some kids who rushed the decision, well I wonder why because the rise in violence, anti-trans bullies fueled by misinformation actually threatened Doctors at Children's Hospital! There have been bomb threats too! Some detransitioners actually do it out of pressure from society, like being able to have a job, respect from family and friends, these things have an impact on peoples well being so by educating people with science we can better combat anti-trans ideology. The proto-fascist state of Texas actually tries to call it child abuse for doctors and parents to agree to get a trans child on puberty blockers so they can not have to experience puberty and make up their own mind at 18. Some kids naturally experience puberty later in life, whats the difference? I don't think Texas is fascist, but proto meaning what comes before, and we see the similar patterns as Germany had in the rise of hate towards Jewish people. The states laws are fueling hate, not too late to change course.

Making trans kids suffer with gender dysphoria and preventing medicine is abusive. If there were any dangerous side effects we would know by now and if bones got weaker, what about testing solutions for helping bones not be weakened if that does happen in certain cases? Why do bigots oppose more science? Are they afraid they will be proven wrong? It's like they will claim trans athletes have a huge advantage even though years ago Katie Ledecky swam a whole 9 seconds faster than Lia Thomas, so much for a trans advantage. Anti-trans laws based off misinformation prevent trans kids from having puberty blockers which would prevent the bone structure changing more. And I'm pretty sure people who want to transition have thought about if they want kids or not. It was a decision I made, I need to be happy and I won't be able to have kids if I don't make it anyway. I deserve to live life happy and not be discriminated against the same as any other trans person, this should be a basic human right but human rights are under assault worldwide.
